Color Outside the Lines Bluffton Youth Group

Color Outside the Lines, a Bluffton youth group, began with five people inspired by an Atlanta Pride Youth Hangout in 2024: three students from different schools across Bluffton and Hilton Head, and two dedicated mothers. Our founding members represent the diverse educational landscape of our area, encompassing everything from Montessori to public schools to homeschool communities.

LGBTQ safe space, free to attend, secular (non-religious), and open to individuals aged 11-17.

The only requirement is this form be completed by an adult.

Youth-Led, Adult-Supported

This isn't just another program created by adults for teens. Our founding students took charge from day one:

  • One teen dreamed up and drew our mascot
  • The group collaborated on our mission statement, ground rules, structure, and even the website.
  • Everyone contributed activity ideas and discussion topics

Our Creative Community

Our members bring diverse interests and talents:

  • Visual arts (drawing, painting)
  • Crafting (beading, cardboard construction, sewing)
  • Reading and book discussions
  • Gaming and group activities
  • Creative collaboration
  • Social justice
  • Civic engagement

We're all here to support each other, learn together, and create lasting friendships in a safe, welcoming space. Every member brings their unique perspective and talents, making our group a vibrant tapestry of creativity and acceptance.

We're growing and evolving, always open to new members and fresh ideas.

About Our Space

We meet at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry (UUCL) in Bluffton, and we couldn't have found a more fitting home. Unitarian Universalists are unique in that they are a creedless faith - they don't follow any specific doctrine or worship a particular deity. Instead, they create an open, accepting space where people of all beliefs (or no religious beliefs) can gather, united by shared values of social justice, community service, and human dignity.

The congregation has graciously offered us use of their teen lounge and gathering spaces, embodying their commitment to fostering inclusive community spaces. Much like our group, UUCL believes in celebrating individual identity while working together for positive change. The building itself, tucked away on Malphrus Road, provides a peaceful setting with comfortable meeting spaces, perfect for our Monday afternoon gatherings.

We're grateful to have found such an aligned and supportive host for Color Outside the Lines.
