A Note From Ashley

Dear Parents,

As the mother of a tween, and niece to a teen, I understand the importance of creating safe, affirming spaces for our youth. Color Outside the Lines emerged from my daughter, Alessandra, and her friends wishing they could connect with peers who are not interested in judging, but looking for community and connection.

Our group provides what many of us sought during our own teenage years: a place to be authentically ourselves without judgment. We focus on building friendships, fostering understanding, and having fun in a supervised, welcoming environment.

I'm committed to making this a secure, positive space for your children. We maintain open-door policies, ensure adult supervision, and prioritize both physical and emotional safety. Every child deserves to feel valued, accepted, and supported.

You'll notice we talk a lot about LGBTQIA+ and allies. Some of our kids align as such, others do not. All are allies. That's pretty much the golden rule around here.

This group is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves the respect of both their peers and adults. This means we address all members and visitors by their preferred name and pronoun.

A Bluffton and Hilton Head Island resident most of my life, I've spent a lot of time over the years helping at the local schools (SPMA, MRM, M.C. Reilly). We transitioned to homeschooling in June of 2020 and enjoy being a part of the LTL community. For work, I run Brightstocking, a digital strategy and marketing studio that helps cultural and do-gooder organizations grow.

Whether your child is just looking for new friends, part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or an ally, they're welcome here. And I'm always available to discuss any questions or concerns, as well as provide references should you wish to research us more.

All my best, Ashley Trexler (843-301-8550)
